About J&A Racing
J & A Racing is a family operated race team consisting of three cars. Our main goal is to live out the message in 1 Corinthians 10:31 and give glory to God in all we do. Our other main goal is to have fun while pursuing Alex's dream to someday make it to the profession level and pilot a 300+ MPH nitro funny car.
J & A Racing was formed in 2008 but has been a work in progress since 1994. That was when Alex's father Jim, took Alex to his first drag race. It was there that Alex fell in love drag racing and discovered jr. dragsters. Just one and a half short years later , when Alex was 7, they purchased their first race car, which was just the first of many to come. At that time the race team was called "Too Cool Racing" with Snoopy as the team mascot. Keep in mind Alex was only 8 at the time. Alex still carries his first "Snoopy" on board with him at each race. (You can see a picture of "Snoopy" on our "Fun Stuff" photo page). Alex and Jim continued racing jr. dragsters for eight more years when Alex decided it was time to move on. All of the "Too Cool Racing" assets were sold so that a new "big car" could be built! That didn't mean the end of racing though.
Jim and Alex bought all of the parts and pieces they needed to build the coolest 1970 Dodge Dart on the planet! They spent the next three years building this awesome Dart with the help from many friends and, now crew chief, Tim Cook. In addition to building the Dart, they also built the home of J&A Racing where cars are built, magic is made, fun is had, and dreams come true. Shortly after finishing the Dart, Jim and Alex had the opportunity to purchase a funny car/altered. Let's face it, who in their right mind would turn that down? They purchased this new car and raced it at nostalgia events. While at a nostalgia race found and bought a '70 cuda funny car body. Over the off season the crew fitted and built the body to fit on the funny car chassis. Thus, the Rocketeer was born!
Jim and Alex found that this team was growing and needed to be defined. They decided to create J&A Racing Inc. and continue to race the funny car, Dart and Jr. Dragster. They look forward to keep moving forward. We are excited that we now have a three car team with Gabe Wood driving the Rocketeer, Jim driving the Dart and Tyler Harper driving the Rocketeer Jr. You can read about our drivers and crew on the about section on this site.
