Alex Barrett

Alex began his drag racing career when he was 8 years old in the NHRA Jr Dragster program.  He competed in races all across the United States including, California, Nevada, Arizona and Indiana. His passion for drag racing started when he attended his first drag race at 6 years old.  He announced to his dad on the way home from the races that he was "going to be a professional drag racer" when he grew up.  He started building our 70 Dart when he was 15 and bought the funny car at 19.  He is currently pursuing his dream to become a professional funny car pilot with the help and encouragement of his wife Amy.

Gabe Wood

Gabe became the driver of the funny car when Alex moved on to bigger and better.  Gabe has been driving for years, and we are honored that he will be piloting the Rocketeer when she is back up and running again.

Tyler Harper

Tyler came to the team through his Grandpa, Tom Harper.   Tom crewed for the team for several years, and was happy to have his grandson become a driver when the Rocketeer Jr. seat opened up.

Tyler attents Beaumont High, and is involved in other sports as well, including baseball, running and soccer.

We are very excited to have Tyler representing J & A Racing behind the wheel of the Jr. Dragster and are confident that great things will be in store for him.

Jim Barrett

Who knew that Jim would follow in his son's footsteps and become a driver.  He has been following Alex's dream all these years, but with Alex gone, somebody had to fill his shoes, and Jim's feet fit.  Jim received his ET license the summer of 2013 at Barona, and is driving in the ANRA series this year.

In his other life, Jim works for CAA Associates, and is assigned to City of Yucaipa as Building Official.
